So, I took a ride up to Hampton NH Saturday to meet a couple girlfriends for dinner. They were attending the Brett Michaels show. I was not. Well, because it was Brett Michaels a line started forming around 3:30 so by the time I got up there and we began scouting a place to eat it was too late. We ended up eating take out in line cos my friends wanted to make sure they'd get an actual seat in the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom (one friend is very short and the other simply prefers to sit) and that was fun and funny but that's not why I'm writing this. I'm writing because of fudge. During the summer season on the main drag at Hampton Beach there's a little store with a big sign that says FUDGE. It's one of the things I look forward to when I go to a place like Hampton; ya know fudge, the fried dough, corn dogs. Well the place was shuttered this past Saturday as were most of the summer stores. No fudge to be found which of course made me crave it even more. On my way home I took route 1 to the Tobin hoping I'd see a neon fudge sign somewhere between Lynnfield and Malden. Nope. And I started wondering….why the fudge at the beach, why the fudge at the fair, why the fudge during the holidays BUT NO EVERYDAY FUDGE. Needless to say when I did my food shopping yesterday I bought the ingredients for peanut butter AND chocolate fudge which I will make this coming weekend. Yesterday I  made apple crisp. Yea, even I can't keep up with my fickle dessert yearnings.
