Paddle This

Well after watching the Olympic Kayak event today I think I may be paddling all wrong! But here's an interesting thing. I've noticed when I'm out on my kayak people are much friendlier to me. They wave at me from inside their homes. They say "hello! what a gorgeous day" from their decks. People in other watercraft are equally as generous. What is it about being on the water that makes everyone so much more amicable? It's so odd. I'm the same person frequently running or walking by your house. On occasion I'll get a nod from another early riser but nothing like the warm greetings I get on the water. I'm just wondering why.

My take on this, is that when people are by water, either fresh or salt water, they tend to be more relaxed. They may be on vacation or off for the weekend, so they are not as stressed, etc. and can be a little more friendly or human towards others.
