Last week I wore a couple of suits to work and people were wondering why cos I usually dress fairly casually; I mean, it's radio; who really sees me except Doyle?! Well, I've been doing some cleaning and digging around in the back of my closets and I realized I've been "saving" things…not wearing or using them; just letting them take up space. Do you "save" things? That special bottle of perfume or pretty candle sitting on the shelf collecting dust, the "guest soap" in the bathroom, $50 pair of silk panties in your drawer that have yet to see the dark of night. Is it only women who do this or do men "save" things, too? Why do we do this? Every day I drive into work on Morrissey Boulevard and I guess I hadn't heard all the details in the news yesterday cos when I drove in I didn't see the spot where those three kids died in a car crash early yesterday morning. I saw it this morning. Don't most of us think we're invincible when we're young; we know it all and we think as we age we'll know even more. Funny thing happens though. As you age, you realize just how much you don't know, how much you'll never know and how little time you actually have here. My heart goes out to the families and friends of those kids for it is my belief it's not those who die who suffer but those left behind. A stark reminder that the time is now. Say it now, do it now, use it now, wear it now.
