Haagen Daz peanut butter peanut brittle ice cream....so much for my disdain for peanut brittle.
The saddest thing about the holidays? Taking the Christmas tree down. I just took mine down yesterday...January 10th. A trail of pine needles from the living room, through the kitchen, into the hallway, down the front stairs onto the porch and out to the side of the road. RIP 2009.
I think it was December 26? I was in the grocery store and there on the shelves, in lacy red velvet, the next holiday we're peer pressured to participate in. Valentine's Day. If you're part of a couple, you're required to, at the very least, pick up a thoughtful card; chocolates, negligee, sparkly baubles at your discretion. If you've just started "seeing" someone, well that's a little trickier...how long have you been dating? how's the relationship progressing? what are the expectations? Now, if you're not involved, there's nothing like romantic Valentine's Day ads to remind you of that fact. And, let's not forget the children on Valentine's Day...uh...how did that happen? I remember being in the third grade, making some kind of a paper heart pouch and waiting with much anticipation for the male classmates to deposit their proclamations of love while I distributed mine in their paper heart pouch(es)! Never once did I look for a card from my mother. yuk! I was under the impression Valentine's Day was strictly for paramours. Now, when I see ads designed to manipulate me into purchasing something for my children for Valentine's Day, I'm confused. If I don't get them a heart shaped box of chocolates and a card, does that mean I don't love them?

I agree the comercializm is an izm we could do without so much of. Slinging guilt is not the best marketing ploy. However it does have it's effect. So I say No Guilt No Problem. Let em Eat Cake. lol TY. :-)
