It's alright, we've all done it. You're jamming out to a song with your friends, and as you sing the lyrics at the top of your lungs, someone turns and says, "What did you just say?" Well don't worry, we're here to help! Here's our list of the Top 5 Most Misheard Lyrics.
1. Creedence Clearwater Revival: Bad Moon Rising
What We Heard: There's a bathroom on the right
Actual Lyric: There's a bad moon on the rise
This lyric is so often messed up that lead singer John Fogerty has actually slipped the "bathroom the right" version into his live performances occasionally.
2. Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze
What We Heard: 'Scuse me while I kiss this guy
Actual Lyric: 'Scuse me while I kiss the sky
The chorus from "Purple Haze" became such a popular flub, there is actually an entire website of messed up lyrics entitled KissThisGuy.com.
3. Elton John - Tiny Dancer
What We Heard: Hold me closer, Tony Danza
Actual Lyric: Hold me closer Tiny Dancer
It looks like, to us, Danza's still the boss!
4. Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
What We Heard: There is no pain, you are receiving a distant chipmunk on the horizon
Actual Lyric: There is no pain you are receding, a distant ship's smoke on the horizon
This one came as a disappointment, as we were sort of looking forward to receiving our chipmunk.
5. The Clash - Rock the Casbah
What We Heard: The sheep don't like it, rockin' the cat box
Actual Lyric: Shareef don't like it, rock the Casbah
Even though the lyrics to the song are in the actual title, people still seem to mess this one up! Must be the accent...
