Ted Nugent is perhaps just as well known for being a gun enthusiast and an avid hunter as he is for being a musician. In fact, the NRA board member is so knowledgeable on the topic, the Discovery Channel played host to an hour-long special back in October entitled “Ted Nugent’s Gun Country.”
According to The Raw Story, Ted later claimed that Discovery was interested in picking the special up as a regular series. The network has since denied those claims, and in the wake of the tragic events at Sandy Hook Elementary School last week, told Fox News that they would be canceling all of their gun-related shows. These include new episodes and re-runs of “America Guns,” “Sons of Guns” as well as any further development of “Ted Nugent’s Gun Country.”
In fact, a Discovery rep has stated that Ted Nugent won’t be making a return to the network in any way at all, due to the poor ratings his special received, as well as the shootings at Sandy Hook.
Nugent has had quite the year already, having made several controversial comments about the President and the Democratic Party. One particular statement that he made at an NRA convention in April even led to him being questioned by the Secret Service.
Thus far, no response has been issued from the Motor City Madman in regards to his boot from Discovery.
