ZZ Top
was feeling very ambitious this year.

Back in September, Texas rock trio released their first album of all-new material in 15 years, La Futura. The band also teamed up with Jeremiah Whiskey for a commercial campaign that used their song “I Gotsta Get Paid”, and toured all around North America.

Now, Billy Gibbons has revealed that the band has even more material recorded and ready to go from their La Futura sessions with producer Rick Rubin.

During an interview with Classic Rock Magazine last week, Gibbons stated that the group have 10 additional songs in the bag on top of the 10 (and two bonus tracks) that already appear on the album, but were only allowed to pick so many.

He goes on to explain that their record label was leery about releasing the album as a double-disc because the unpredictable climate of the music industry can make it hard to sell new material as it is.

When asked if fans could expect the group to release the additional music next year, Gibbons teased, “Well, I’m hoping – but things in ZZ Top world don’t always follow real-world rules.”

Classic Rock Magazine spoke to Gibbons at the 8th annual Classic Rock Roll of Honour in London, where ZZ Top was presented with the Living Legends award.
