Joe Perry -- guitarist, songwriter, producer, Aerosmith member. And now author.
Perry tells us that he's working on an autobiography with award-winning author David Ritz that he hopes to publish in 2013.
"People have been asking me about it for the last probably five or 10 years, and it just didn't feel right," Perry says. "I didn't think it was time. I was too busy working and keeping things going with the band. I just didn't feel it inside. So (the idea) kind of just shuffled off."
Perry says that after Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler published his book, "Does the Noise In My Head Bother You," in 2011 "questions came fast and thick, 'When you gonna do yours?' “
Deciding to take the plunge, Perry says he "read probably 40 biographies and autobiographies, musical ones. I can see how some worked and some didn't. I hope this one works; there's a lot to fit in 600 pages or whatever it's gonna be."
Besides Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer also wrote a memoir, 2009's "Hit Hard: A Story of Hitting Rock Bottom at the Top," but Perry promises that his book "is definitely going to take a different path than the other guys, the way they put their books together. I'm really excited."
Aerosmith is preparing for the Nov. 6 release of "Music From Another Dimension!," its first album of all-new material in 11 years, and the next leg of its Global Warming Tour beginning Nov. 8 in Oklahoma City.
