Ray Davies Says No Kinks Reunion Without Dave Davies

LONDON, ENGLAND - OCTOBER 01: Ray Davies signs copies of his autobiography; 'Americana: The Kinks, The Riff, The Road' at Waterstones, Piccadilly on October 1, 2013 in London, England.
The Kinks
are backpedaling on this week's report that frontman Ray Davies and drummer Mick Avory are planning to make new music and tour with or without guitarist Dave Davies.

Ray Davies was quoted in Britain's Mojo magazine as saying, "Dave's invited to the party -- but if he doesn't want to do it, it will happen anyway." The Kinks responded with a posting on its official Facebook page stating that, "Mojo is wrong. There will be no Kinks reunion without both Ray and Dave Davies. Ray Davies claims to have never said this." Dave Davies added on his page that, "I would love to do some form of a Kinks reunion."

Mojo did report that Ray Davies and Avory were working on new Kinks material to record and release in advance of any tour. The Kinks' last album, "Phobia," came out in 1993.
