McCartney Tops Richest Bassist List

LOS ANGELES, CA - AUGUST 10: Musician Paul McCartney performs at Dodger Stadium on August 10, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
To the surprise of probably and absolutely no one, Paul McCartney is the richest bass player in the world.

That's according to the website The Richest, whose tally  puts McCartney`s estimated value of $1.2 billion not only well ahead of Sting and KISS' Gene Simmons -- tied for second at $300 million -- but also with more money than the rest of the Top 10 bassist combined.

The rest of the list includes: Roger Waters, $270 million; U2's Adam Clayton, $150 million; Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, $115 million; Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones, $80 million; Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler, $65 million; No Doubt's Tony Kanal, $45 million; and Nirvana's Krist Novoselic, $40 million.

The Richest did not reveal how it tallied the various bass players' fortunes, however.
