Neil Young Supporting Anti-Logging Group

LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 12: Neil Young and Crazy Horse perform on stage at British Summer Time Festival>> at Hyde Park on July 12, 2014 in London, United Kingdom.
Neil Young
has long been active in environmental concerns, and now he's again putting his money -- and his mouth -- where, well, his mouth is.

Young has aligned with the Rainforest Connection, an initiative fighting illegal logging in the Amazon and elsewhere by using cellphone technology to catch poachers.

Young appears in a new video supporting the organization, saying, "Climate change is the defining issue of the 21st century. There are a lot of factors, but forests are one of the big ones. There is a technology that is a connection between the rainforest and you. This technology enables the forest to talk to the world. When the forest is threatened, the forest can speak -- and you can hear it."

Young has also donated 10 specially made Pono players with the Rainforest Connection logo laser-engraved on them to help the group raise funds and will be offering special high-definition downloads of rainforest sounds to donors.

Young is currently on a European tour with Crazy Horse that wraps up August 8 in Colmar, France.
