DLR Solo Record Done & Ready For Release?

LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 01: Van Halen, singer Dave Lee Roth performs as part of their 2012 North American tour at Staples Center on June 1, 2012 in Los Angeles, California.
While Van Halen is reportedly putting the finishing touches on its next album, frontman David Lee Roth apparently has a solo work in the can.

Guitarist John5 (Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Roth's DLR Band) said in a Canadian interview that he recorded a new album with Roth during 2013, a set of all original songs which he calls "unbelievable...just great, great songs. And hopefully sometime it'll see the light of day...It's an incredible record." He added that the music "sounds like just Dave from that 'Van Halen I' or 'II' or 'Women and Children First era."

Gregg Bissonette, the drummer in Roth's first solo band and now a member of Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band, also played on the sessions. No release dates or other details have been determined for the album.

John5 releases his eighth solo album, "Careful With that Axe," on August 12 and will be back on the road with Rob Zombie on September 8 in Portland, Ore.
