Rush Receiving Honorary Doctorates

LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 18: (L-R) Inductees Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart and Geddy Lee of Rush speak on stage at the 28th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on April 18, 2013 in Los Angeles, California.
Rush
is adding yet another honor to its resume.

The three group members will receive honorary doctorate degrees on June 12 from Nipssing University in Ontario, the first ever awarded by the institution. Vice Chancellor Mike DeGagne noted in a statement that, "The honourees are remarkable Canadians who have helped make our world better. It is very rewarding that they recognize the distinct value of the university and support our mission and vision to the extremes that they are accepting our highest honor."

Rush will be joined by six other recipients at the ceremony from the fields of medicine, literature, business and social justice. Rush is currently on hiatus after touring to support its 2012 album "Clockwork Angels," with plans to regroup in the spring of 2015.

Guitarist Alex Lifeson tells us he's planning to mix work with relaxing:

"I'm gonna do a little traveling with my wife....We'd like to go to Japan...We want to go back with another group of friends to Italy next summer. That's a big thing for us. We just haven't had an opportunity to travel for fun, the two of us. With the grandkids now we hate being away from them for too long...I'm probably gonna do a little bit of playing and work. I did play on a friend's record recently and working on a guitar model for Paul Reed Smith,so there's lots of little things going on."
