KISS Rocks “Idol”

LOS ANGELES, CA - MAY 21: (L-R) Musicians Tommy Thayer, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer, and Paul Stanley of Kiss pose in the press room during Fox's 'American Idol' XIII Finale at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on May 21, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
KISS
helped give viewers and fans in attendance a taste of what a rock show looks and sounds like last night, as they performed a medley of KISS Klassics with “American Idol” finalist (and eventual winner) Caleb Johnson.

The 23-year-old Asheville, NC native more than held his own alongside the recently inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band performing “Love Gun” (can’t believe that one got past the brass at Fox) and “Shout It Out Loud.”  There were, however, a couple of awkward spots where Caleb’s vocals clearly outshined and overshadowed Paul Stanley’s pipes.  I bet that didn’t sit too well with Starchild.

The obvious differences in vocal strength still wasn’t as awkward as Harry Connick Jr.’s pseudo-Carlton Banks dancing as seen throughout “Love Gun.”  Seriously, dude…you should’ve just taken a cue from fellow judge Keith Urban and just smiled and clapped along with the song.

In case you missed the KISS performance (and the terrible Connick Jr. dancing), you can watch it all below.
