Lawsuit between Joan Jett, Hot Topic Settled

LOS ANGELES, CA - APRIL 23: Musician Joan Jett speaks onstage at the 2014 Revolver Golden Gods Awards at Club Nokia on April 23, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
Hot Topic has gotten one more rock star off its back, settling a lawsuit with Joan Jett over the use over the “Blackheart” brand name.

Jett filed suit with the retailer in June 2013 after she thought the company’s “Blackheart”-inspired lingerie line was infringing upon her brand, according to Law360.com

Per Billboard.com, Hot Topic claimed they had a “mutually agreed-upon license agreements” with Jett, which is why they proceeded with the production of the lingerie line.

Lately, Hot Topic has been in hot water with notable rockers.  Just last week, Glenn Danzig filed a lawsuit against Misfits’ bassist Jerry Only for engaging in a merchandising deal with the rock retailer, among others, over the use of the Misfits’ “Fiend Skull” logo that cut him out of the profits.
