Foreigner Classics Reach Gold/Platinum Status In Digital Downloads

BERLIN, GERMANY - JANUARY 24: Mick Jones (from L), Kelly Hansen and Thom Gimbel of the Band Foreigner perform at the taping of 'Back To School - Gottschalks grosses Klassentreffen' Show on January 24, 2014 in Berlin, Germany.
Decades after their original release, Foreigner’s music is still in demand, with six of their standards receiving gold and platinum honors for digital download sales from the Recording Industry Association of America.

Receiving “gold” status are “Cold As Ice,” “Feels Like The First Time,” “Hot Blooded” and “Waiting for A Girl Like You,” with “I Want To Know what Love Is” and “Juke Box Hero” receiving “platinum” status. The RIAA certifies songs and albums “gold” when they reach more than 500,000 downloads and “platinum” at 1,000,000 downloads.

Per a statement on Foreigner’s official website, these new certifications give them more gold and platinum digital singles than other classic rock artists including Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles and Journey.

In terms of gauging success, anytime when you can say you’re out-doing Led Zeppelin is pretty awesome.  Last time I checked, they’re not too shabby.
