“Quadrophenia” 101: University of Sussex Hosting Who Symposium

DULUTH, GA - NOVEMBER 05: The Who's Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend perform during the The Who 'Quadrophenia And More' World Tour In Duluth, Georgia at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on November 5, 2012 in Duluth, Georgia.
Many colleges and universities have offered courses highlighting various musicians. For example, there’s an Elvis Presley course at the University of Iowa, and you can earn credit for listening to The Beatles at USC and UCLA.  And now, The Who will be receiving the academic treatment.

This July, the Centre for Modernist Studies at the University of Sussex will be hosting “Here By The Sea and Sand:  A Symposium On Quadrophenia,” which will include a viewing of the film and various lectures about The Who and the history of Mod culture.

To check out the detailed schedule, go to the “Programme” section on the symposium’s official webpage.  While the entire event sounds fascinating, I think my favorite part is that there are two scheduled tea (and coffee) breaks and that the final listed activity is “Visit To Pub.”

Oh England…how I love you so!
