U2's new single, "Invisible," has made history on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.
The tune, which debuted via a free download campaign during Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2, bows at No. 28, marking U2's 39th entry on the chart -- the most ever by any act.
U2 passes Pearl Jam, which has 38 appearances, while Green Day and the Red Hot Chili Pepper follow in third place at 30.
"Invisible" is also No. 12 on Billboard's Rock Airplay chart and No. 13 on the Adult Alternative Songs survey.
The group is finishing work on its next album, which is expected out this summer though no title or release date have yet been announced.
