New Biography Due Out About the Late Lou Reed

A new book that takes a look at the life of the late Lou Reed is currently in the works.

The New York Times reports that a biography about the singer, who rose to fame in the ‘60s as a founding member of the Velvet Underground and later made the transition into a successful solo artist, is being penned by Rolling Stone writer Will Hermes.

Under the working title “Lou: A New York Life,” Hermes tells the NY Times that the book will function as a “full, definitive biography” of Reed’s life, though it will naturally focus on his time in New York, as that’s where the singer spent many of his most prominent years.

“Reed loved [New York City] deeply, based his adult life here, rooted much of his work here and was a huge figure in our cultural life,” Hermes explained to the NY Times. “I think we have yet to fully measure the loss. He was one of the greatest artists of our generation.”

Lou Reed passed away passed away on October 27 of last year due to complications from liver disease. He was 71 years old.
