Robert Plant and his band, the Sensational Space Shifters, surprised fans earlier this week when they revealed that, not only are they working on a new record, but it’s nearly finished!
On Monday (December 16) a post surfaced on the group’s official Facebook page that featured a black and white photo of Plant in the studio along with the caption, “Sensational Space Shifters album…lost for words. Almost complete..”
The new LP will mark the blues-based group’s first studio effort, though they released a pair of live albums last year.
The Sensational Space Shifters, which also consists of Justin Adams, John Baggot, Billy Fuller, Liam "Skin" Tyson, Juldeh Camara and Dave Smith, toured throughout the summer of 2013, performing at festivals and other venues across North America.
In other Robert Plant news, the former Led Zeppelin singer has been releasing episodes of his web series “Zirka,” which chronicles his 2003 trip to Mali and his performance at the Festival in the Desert.
A new installment of “Zirka” is released every Monday, with six out of eight episodes available now for your viewing pleasure at RobertPlant.com.
