ArtWeekBoston!

So, yesterday, in an attempt to be a good mom, I took Lucy to the Mary Baker Eddy Library (you know, the one by the Christian Science Building and reflective pool). It was a gorgeous October day - 80 degrees! - and the city is celebrating ArtWeekBoston, which has been in the news lately because of its exhibits includes the 75 pianos placed all over the city for people to play. (PS - Loren, Wally, Tom and the whole gang will be at Sullivan's at 11:30 a.m. this morning to tickle the ivories, so stop by!) Read more...

Three Things with LBF

Flu SeasonIt's Thursday, and while I try to do most of my worrying on Wednesdays (it's an alliteration thing), I came across three statistics that will make you freak out a little bit.

1. It's flu season! Which means you're going to want to take a Silkwood shower with Purell every time someone shakes your hand hello. And why not? The statistics are staggering: Last year's flu season led to Americans missing 230 million work days and 91 million school days. Plus, 11 million vacations were totally ruined or canceled because people refuse to wash their hands and cover their mouths when they cough.

2. Thongs. Really. Why this trend? Anyway, a bunch of OB/GYNs say that if you wear thongs, you're more prone to infections south of the belly button. It has something to do with non-breathable material. Gross. Anyway, wear your granny panties with pride, ladies!

3. You mom likes your brother better. Or your sister. Or maybe you. She has a favorite. And the reason? She's likes the kid with a personality most like hers the best. And you can't do a damn thing about it. There's a silver lining, though. She wants her favorite to take care of her as she gets older. So if you're the black sheep, she won't be moving in.
