I worked on the loading dock. Through out the day trucks pulled up we piled on sacks of potatoes onions and cabbages. Loaded on boxes of cereal and toiletries. All these will be heading out to the more then 600 food banks and shelters throughout Massachusetts.
While working on the dock we met many of the people who run these food banks and shelters. Hearing their stories really opened my eyes. Some are in so much need that they only can open their doors 3 days a week because that is all they have enough food for. Others have to put limits on how much food families can take so that they have enough to go around. The many things we take for granted everyday, are not a luxury for others.
The need for food has grown even more this year ...

The Lost Art of Being Civil

Today as I was walking out of Dunkin Donuts with many coffees in hand (7 to be exact) the gentleman coming in kindly stepped aside, held the door for me and said with a smile on this face that I could go thru. I thanked him and as I entered the hall way to the second door to the outside, a lady plows thru the door without a care in the world nearly hitting me and letting the door slam in my face. Kind? NO. Rude? YES!
I feel the art of being civil (thank you Ken West for your help) is exiting the world. Some people will see you are in need of assistance and help you out. Others don’t even bother to because it has nothing to do with THEM. Where has kindness gone?
It makes me wonder why you cannot take 5 seconds to stop and help someone out. Are ...

Nerd Alert: Jump on your Nimbus 2000 to the Deathly Hallows Part 2!

The Deathly Hallows Part 2 has lived up to the hype. Although it was dark, bleak and there were a lot of deaths, it was the perfect end to the Harry Potter era.
I am glad that they made the last book installment into two separate movies because if it was squeezed into one, it would not have done the series justice. By extending it, they were allowed to stay true to the story and not leave it feeling incomplete. I recommend seeing the movie in 3D. The special effects were amazing and really pulled you into the film and made you feel as if you were right there along side them!
You got chills while watching Lord Voldemort, fall in love with the innocents and flightiness of Luna and clapped when Ron and Hermione finally, well you know if you read the books, if not I don't want to ...

Are Sox fans calling the red sox out only six games into the season?

The sights and sounds of Fenway being open for the season are just a few short hours away. Just like any other Bostonian I live for this time of year, baseball season. Yeah I know that the Sox will be 0-6 going into a big opening day/weekend series against the Yanks but unlike most fans at this point, I am not ready to leap from the Zakim just yet!
So what if all the experts are saying no one has ever come back from a start like this. Come on this is the Sox we are talking about! People were counting us out when we came back from that 3-1 deficit in the 2004 ALS to beat the Evil Empire.
Have some forgotten that we have suffered 86 years of heartache before they won two world series? Are people just used to the sox having a winning edge? So Ryan Seacrest has tweeted that Idol will be issuing an apology during tonight's show. Well rumors are running wild on the net of what it could be. Well here is what we are hearing .
1) In the seasons premiere episode after Chris Cordero (the off key Eagle Scout) audition, his family greeted him outside the doors and one of his family members who was an underage girl had a little wardrobe malfunction and something slipped out (it rhymes with slipple). The video of this quickly went viral on the net and Fox has asked or even threated to sue people to pull the clip from the web because it falls into the child pornography area because of the girls age. Why they missed it in the first place in the first airing who knows!

2) It could also be the audition of Chris Medina. People are ...

Glee & GQ= Amazing!

So there is lots of talk today about the three actors of Glee who had a photo shoot in GQ. In case you have not seen them yet click here.
Parents of teenagers who watch the popular Fox show are up in arms over these photos because they are racy and say that the cast of Glee should be ashamed as they are role models for so many kids. The Glee kids are all in their 20's in real life and should be able to express themselves in any way they want. Just because they play teens on TV doesn't mean they have to do what all "good teens "should. I thought the photos were great, very artistic. Ok so they were a little sexy but who cares! I think kids see more racy things then that in daily life!
You hear all over the news about how teens are ...

I Want to Run Away and Join The Circus!

I got to attend Ringling Brothers Zing Zang Zoom at the Garden. Did you know that if you show up an hour before the show you can attend clown college?! At clown college you are able to get up close to some of the acts you will see in the show like tight rope walkers, clowns and yes even some of the animals! It was fun and it made you feel that much closer to the action!

The show itself was great! The music and acts went together perfectly which made it very entertaining! It was thrilling to watch the Aerialist high above your head perform with such ease! My favorite part was the clowns. They were very entertaining, personable and made you laugh from the second they entered the ring! From animal tricks to people getting shot out of a gigantic cannon, the circus has something everyone is ...

One For The Ages!

Last Night I got to see the rock musical Rock Of Ages. What a show! The story follows Drew, played by American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis. Drew is working towards his big break as a rock legend while working as a bar back on the Sunset Strip at LA's most famous rock club. It also follows Sherrie, played by Rebecca Faulkenberry, a small town girl looking to catch her big break in Hollywood. The two meet and the love story begins. They are followed along the way by a cast of characters that they live and work amongst on the Strip.
Maroulis and Faulkenberry have a chemistry that keeps you enthralled the entire show and voices that stun as they rock the stage! Lonny played by Patrick Lewallen added the comedy to the rock edge as he narrated the show. The entire cast was fantastic and time warped the crowd ...

Silly Bandz are not so bad, neither is living at home!

Hi my name is PJ, I am 27 and I own sillybandz and still live with my parents

This did not start on purpose, but then again does any addiction start on purpose?

It all started one night when I was out to dinner with a child that I baby-sit for and she had them. We were playing with them and she had put a few on my wrist. The next day I went to the beach with some friends, forgetting that I had them on. We were minding our own business when out of no where a kid appeared and asked “So..ahh, what do you have”. Huh? Did I have "Free Candy" written on my forehead? He noticed the confusion setting in on my face then he pointed at my wrist and said “ what do you have”. I tried just telling him but no I had to ...
